Hydraulic Pump Horsepower Calculator
This company assumes no liability for errors in data nor in safe and/or satisfactory operation of equipment designed from this information.
Use this calculator to help figure out what electric motor horsepower (HP) is required to drive a hydraulic pump.
Simply take the gallons per minute (GPM) multiplied by the pump pressure PSI then divide that number by the result of 1,714 times efficiency (we used 85% efficency in this case).
Example: How many horsepower are needed to drive a 5 gpm pump at 1500 psi?
Formula: GPM x PSI x .0007 = horsepower needed
